I often wonder what The Real Housewives of Vancouver would be like if they actually filmed REAL housewives in Vancouver. Well, not even housewives as much as...you know, real moms and/or women who are among the average jungle of what you might meet in this glorious city and not so much of the indulgence and high 'society' that is the glory of the RHOV franchise. It would be fascinating to follow the lives of the real women who work, raise kids and grow their families while continuing to dream big dreams and doing it all while on a budget. The ones who are trying to make their mark on the world by giving more than they are taking.
What I know for sure, is that there is this incredible network of women (and mothers) and they are doing things a little differently than the average Canadian family ( mainly because we live in one of the world most expensive cities and with that comes an entirely new set of rules, read: the thirties grind ) AND these gals are embracing anyone they come across along the journey, not in competition but in community.
About a year ago was when I first read Mama in the City I saw that she was among this incredible network of what I later found out to be is Vanoucvermom.ca . I wanted to be apart of it all and as life would have it... last month I was nominated as one of the Top 30 Vancouver Mom Bloggers via vancouvermom.ca!

On June 13th at the MOV a few hundred people gathered to meet, connect and celebrate it all, at this wildly fun event. Finally, I was to meet and mingle some of

to name a few...It's a little funny to find yourself finally shaking hands with someone you share life with on at least a weekly basis, but have not yet met in the flesh.
My husband came with me and was such a gem to stay by my side while I tried out all the booths like @bombaybrowbar (favorite!) . We had wine, toured the exhibits, chatted and laughed and I left with two arms full of swag- aaaaamazing.
I loved everything in both bags and I particularly can't get over the @naturespath take aways! ( I ate the pineapple, coconut, white chocolate granola yesterday at work and they had to pick me up off the floor because I collapsed with sheer delight).

So bummed I didn't find ya! I was really looking forward to hearing about your half-marathon training stories!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the 12 km run this weekend!
It was lovely to meet you too! What fun. My husband and son have been at the Nature's Path basket, I've barely gotten a look in!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out! Also, let me say how gorgeous you are in your yellow frock! Funny enough, I was also thinking about 'RHOV' and thinking what a small small tiny percent are fancy schmancy pants with boats and big lips. The real housewives are just normal mums, collecting cookie crumbs and used tissues in their handbags.
ReplyDeleteHa! Boats and big lips...love that.
